An AI noise cancelling app listens to the sound coming from your microphone and separates it into two parts: the human voice you want people to hear, and everything else. Older noise gates simply muted the microphone when it went quiet, which cut off the start and end of words and did nothing about noise while you were speaking. Modern noise cancellation uses a neural network that has learned, from thousands of hours of recorded speech and recorded noise, what a voice looks like in sound. It removes keyboards, traffic, fans, barking dogs and nearby conversations while you talk, not just between sentences, and it does it in a few hundredths of a second so the person on the other end never hears a delay.
ClearTone runs that model on your own computer. It sits between your headset and every calling app, so the clean version of your voice is what Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack or your sales dialler receives.
